چکیده

Low Noise Amplifier and Mixer design considerations for 2.45 GHz Bluetooth applications have been studied. A detailed noise analysis is presented. A design strategy for an inductively degenerated common-source LNA with cascode transistor and current-commutating Mixer is proposed, considering the tradeoffs between noise, linearity, power consumption and matching of impedances. Additionally, this work presents a new expression to estimate the LNA noise figure considering the noise introduced by the transconductance stage and the cascode device. A 2.45 GHz LNA-Mixer has been designed and simulated in a 0.35μm 4M2P CMOS technology to validate the proposed strategy. Some performance results obtained through simulations are: NF=7.9dB, Voltage Gain=27dB, PIIP3=−14.4dBm, IF = 1MHz and power consumption of 15.6mW at 3.3V power supply.

Design Analysis and Comparative Study of Rf Receiver Front-ends in 0.18-μm Cmos

In this work, design and simulation results of two RF front-ends to be used in direct conversion receiver are presented. The first one uses dual CS differential LNA with folded mixer. The second one uses single-ended LNA with double balanced mixer. Single-ended and fully differential LNA’s provide gains of 16.3 dB and 28.75 dB at 2.4GHz, respectively. Noise Figure of these two LNA’s are 3.34 dB...

An ultra-low-power 902-928MHz RF receiver front-end in CMOS 90nm process

This paper presents a CMOS RF receiver frontend suitable for ultra-low-power operation. In order to achieve desired gain and linearity of receiver front-end at a 1V supply voltage, current reuse and optimum gate biasing techniques are employed. The proposed architecture includes merged LNA and mixer, operating in the sub-threshold region, and designed for the 902-928MHz ISM band. The proposed c...

An LNA and Mixer for a Global Positioning System receiver in 0.18um CMOS

A CMOS low-noise amplifier (LNA) and mixer for a GPS front end is described. At 1.586Ghz the LNA minimum noise figure (NF) is 2.8dB, input third order intercept point (IIP3) is 2.45dB and forward gain is 30dB. With a 1.573Ghz local oscillator (LO) and a 1.586Ghz RF input the mixer minimum NF is 6.1dB, IIP3 is 12dB and a conversion gain of -3dB. The LNA and mixer consume 58mW of power from a 1.8...

The BLIXER, a Wideband Balun-LNA-I/Q-Mixer Topology

This paper proposes to merge an I/Q current-commutating mixer with a noise-canceling balun-LNA. To realize a high bandwidth, the real part of the impedance of all RF nodes is kept low, and the voltage gain is not created at RF but in baseband where capacitive loading is no problem. Thus a high RF bandwidth is achieved without using inductors for bandwidth extension. By using an I/Q mixer with 2...

1–10GHz Inductorless Receiver in 0.13μm CMOS

In this paper, we describe an inductorless wideband radio receiver architecture from 1GHz to 10GHz. Two receiver RF frontends designs are presented and compared: a traditional inductor peaking LNA and mixer (IPLM) and a capacitive peaking LNA and mixer circuit (CPLM). Measurement results indicate that CPLM with the same bandwidth has better linearity, comparable noise figure and uses only 17% m...
